About the Role
Christ College needs an assistant, associate, or professor of Historical and Systematic Theology (HST) who will help the college achieve its mission.
Position Purpose
This is a 40%-60% time position which teaches courses in the HST department, attends Christ College faculty senate meetings, participates in strategic planning and execution of strategic initiatives, and generally serves the needs of Christ College as needed.

Responsibilities
- Teaching classes in the HST department based upon the needs of the department. Preferred classes include: HST 201 Systematic Theology, HST 321 Luther’s Catechisms and the Theology of the Cross, HST 331 Lutheran Reformers and the Book of Concord, and HST 411 Systematic Theology II
- Conduct classroom instruction in a professional and Christian manner.
- Prepare course syllabi using ILT’s format.
- Consider the students’ needs for information literacy and research process elements within their course (seek assistance from the Librarian when necessary).
- Report student grades by the due date at the end of each semester.
- Submit all reports as required by the CAO.
- Support ILT’s mission.
- Serve on faculty committees as needed.
- Attend all Faculty Senate meetings.
- Be available to counsel students on academic matters.
- Conduct research in their teaching areas.
- Continue to read in their teaching areas to stay current with contemporary scholarship.
- Participate in the on-going self-study and long-range planning as required for accreditation. (This will include reading data and analysis collected through assessment processes, offering analysis and suggestions, and commenting on the analysis and suggestions of others.)
- Know and comply with all academic policies as stated in the ILT Academic Catalog, Faculty Handbook, and Student Handbook.

Christ College is the undergraduate program at the Institute of Lutheran Theology. ILT is an at-will employer in the State of South Dakota.
