COMMODITY GIVING/FARM TAX RELIEF

Many farmers regularly and generously give to their churches or other charitable organizations. A farmer who actively engages in farming can have significant tax savings by donating crop proceeds directly to charity.

IRA GIVING

People who are age 70 ½ or older can contribute up to $100,000 from their IRA directly to a charity and avoid paying income taxes on the distribution. This is known as a qualified charitable distribution. It is limited to IRAs, and there are other exclusions and considerations as well.

ESTATE GIVING

Charitable gift planning can be a simple process. For example, you can write a check, hand over cash, transfer stock or sign a quit-claim deed to real estate directly to the charity of your choosing. Speak with your financial planner or lawyer for more information.
